[Samba] Samba & AD Domain Controller Roundup

Hello,

we want to incorporate a massive samba fileserver in an AD Domain:
I looked through the archives and googled a bit. These questions remain:
1. Is it possible to join the domain with 2.2.x ? Do I need 3.0
2. Are the usual suspects supported ? (ACL, winbind) 
3. Are there any current how-to's around to do this ? 
4. Any wquestion I should have asked ?
