The other day I was trying to compile Samba 3.0.0beta2 with LDAP and the configure script couldn't find the ldap libraries (or couldn't compile a test file with them) so wouldn't it make sense for the configure script to fail instead of just saying everything is okay and compiling Samba without LDAP support?
