[Samba] Using win2k non-pdc as password server

Hi,

I'm trying to get Samba on a Linux box to work. Authentication via user
level worked fine, but what I really want is it to take user authentication from
a win2k box, which is our "primary local server". The win2k box is not a pdc,
(the real pdc is 2000km away, close to the polar circle), but according to
the docs it doesn't have to be.

So in smb.conf I put:
   security = server
   password server = <WIN2KBOX>

and my tries create a logfile log.WIN2KBOX with the content
[2003/01/14 12:46:52, 0] smbd/password.c:server_cryptkey(1072)
  password server not available

Additionally I get a log.BOX_WHERE_I_TRY_TO_LOG_ON_FROM with
[2003/01/14 13:01:29, 0] smbd/service.c:make_connection(249)
  BOXWITTLOF (10.128.0.131) couldn't find service
::{2227a280-3aea-1069-a2de-08002b30309d}

So pretty clear, I have to start some service on the win2k box, but which
one please ?? My first guess was NETLOGON, but the server refuses to start that
up, because it is not a PDC.

Thanks for anyone telling me the right service name before dawn,

                                             Torsten
