[Samba] Problem in changing the Samba password

Dear all members,

I'm facing a problem in changing the samba password from a remote machine.The error is stated as RAP86 and I searched it in internet. But couldn't find a working solution.

This is the problem.

[Thushani at mailserver Thushani]$ smbpasswd
Old SMB password:
New SMB password:
Retype new SMB password:
machine 127.0.0.1 rejected the password change: Error was : RAP86: The specified
 password is invalid.
Failed to change password for Thushani
[Thushani at mailserver Thushani]$

Please write to me what I should do to solve this problem

In the smb.conf file I have

unix password sync=yes

passwd program = /bin/passwd %u

passwd chat = *New* %n\n *Retype* %n\n

password level = 8
