Hi Gerry & list,
I assume you mean /usr/ucb as I have no /usr/usb directory, however /usr/ucb or /usr/usb are not in my PATH at all and when I tried a configure with /usr/ucb listed at the end of my PATH I still get exactly the same error,

I have seen a lot of errors on Solaris lately due to /usr/usb being
listed in the $PATH before /bin & /usr/bin.
