Hey Guys,
         I have a production samba server 2.25 running on rh8. I have
another redundant server which is a rh8 with samba 2.27. I do rsynce 2x a
day incase the server decides to barf on me.

I offload the data from the 2.27 samba server over the network to a win2k
box which has a single independent usb disk drive. From here backups and
archive's are made to dvd's.

Lately after copying like 8 gigs or so it would just quit. My core backup
file is using native linux backup which is about 11gigs.

Yeah putting a tape drive on the linux box is possible but as the saying
goes "if it aint broke don't fix it!

Both systems run quite well in our enviroment but am wondering why are we
experiencing issues like it completely stopping.

One error message the win2k box says is that it has lost connection to drive
the drive letter. If you click on it comes back on the fly.

Any insight or help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Raj
