[Samba] Bogus workgroups in network neighborhood?

Hi there,

In our Network Neighborhood I can see items for old workgroups and domains
that no longer exist.
For example, in /var/log/messages I see:

Apr 13 04:02:04 ch1 nmbd[9227]: ^ICH(1) current master browser = CH1
Apr 13 04:02:04 ch1 nmbd[9227]: ^IBCH(7) current master browser = FIRE997
Apr 13 04:02:05 ch1 nmbd[9227]: ^IWORKGROUP(5) current master browser = SAFETYLAPTOP
Apr 13 04:02:05 ch1 nmbd[9227]: ^ISEINT_TF(4) current master browser = BPDFW2
Apr 13 04:02:05 ch1 nmbd[9227]: ^IBPW(3) current master browser = ENGRSURVEY
Apr 13 04:02:05 ch1 nmbd[9227]: ^IPW(2) current master browser = PW1
Apr 13 04:02:05 ch1 nmbd[9227]: ^ICH(1) current master browser = UNKNOWN

This is from CH1. Now, CH1 and PW1 are supposed to be there. CH1 is the WINS server
and is Local and Domain master. PW1 uses CH1 for WINS and is Local and Domain master
on its own subnet. HOWEVER...

SAFETYLAPTOP I can understand, it is on the network maybe 1 day a month.
FIRE997 was wiped and reinstalled under a different name a couple weeks ago.
BPDFW2 has been retired some time ago. It is sitting here turned off in my office.
ENGRSURVEY was probably wiped and reinstalled months ago.
And UNKNOWN is, well, unknown, but I suspect it is the same deal as ENGSURVEY.

Maybe some PC somewhere is feeding my WINS server bogus information, but my
CH1 Samba WINS server is master browser for the domain and for the local
network! Isn't it supposed to be the boss of WINS then?

How can I track down where Samba is receiving this information from and turn it
off?

Or is there a way to flush out the WINS database on my Linux box CH1?

regards,
mtoal
