Sorry, for the resend, but I found out another piece of information that may be helpful.  I did a Ethereal check and then tried accessing the Samba Serve from my XP box.  The Linux box got 3 NBNS Name queries on the Share Sambaserve and the response from the linux box was a ICMP saying Destination unreachable.  Then 3 more NBNS broadcasts for the name query which Linux did not respond to.
