[Samba] Samba an Windows file times

I've seen various references to this problem but can't find a definitive
answer, so here goes.

I've got Samba 2.0.8 running on a Debian Linux server. When I copy files
from Windows 9x using Windows Explorer, the copy on Samba has it's file date
and time set to the time of the copy process, not preserving the original
file date and time. Does anyone know why this happens and how to fix it ?
