[Samba] smbd out of control processes

This is a follow on to the previous post about smbd bringing down a
machine.  I'm running samba 2.2.5.  I've limited the number of smbd
processes, so at least the machine doesn't stop working, but samba
still stops working occasionally.

Here is what smbstatus shows:

This user has logged out and another user has logged into this machine.
 The only errors in the log file are as follows:

I'm running on HP-UX 11.00 and have used HP's ANSI C compiler.  MMAPed
files have been disabled.
