[Samba] Executing program on samba share extremely slow

Hi

I'm using samba 2.2.3 on SuSE Linux 8.0. While downloading a file (a windows
program in this case) from a samba share with a Win2000-Client works
flawlessly, executing the same file directly on the share lets the network usage and
the CPU load on the server go up. It takes about 10 times longer to execute
the (standalone) program than to download it. There are no entries in the
smbd- and nmbd-logs regarding this.

I've tried the following socket options
socket options = SO_KEEPALIVE IPTOS_LOWDELAY TCP_NODELAY
and on the share
level2 oplocks = yes
with no result at all.

Any hints on where to look?

Yours

Arthur
