Hola Knut,

Thanks for your quick answer, but still having the same error. I have
created the following users:

(bppr-r40) IBM AIX Server: username: s670587
SAMBA SERVER (Above Server): smbpasswd -a s670587
           WINDOWS 2000 Client: username: s670587

Have set all the passwords to 'manager', but still getting the same
error message when I try to do a MapNetworkDrive from Windows
(\\bppr-r40\cognos):

----- ERROR MESSAGE -----
The mapped network drive could not be created because the following
error has occurred:

The account is not authorized to log in from this station.
----- ERROR MESSAGE -----

I have added the IP Address of the client machine to the 'host allow'
entry, but still the same problem. Check the SMB Configuration included
below.

One note though: My windows machine is StandAlone server, I am not
validating to any PDC or BDC around here, and don't want to for now. I
have created the user manually on my Win2000 Professional machine
locally, and am validating using this user, locally. Don't know if this
is an issue.

Subject: Re: [Samba] Question on configuration

Samba is confusing to new users. But you have to create 3 accounts on
the whole system, First create users in your linux or win nt server.
Here u must add all the users that should have access to the samba
server. use this command on unix as root, adduser <user name>
u will then be promped for passwd.Do this for all users.
Second. Add exactly the same users to samba server.Cammand smbpasswd -a
<user name> U will be promped for the passwd which must be the same as
the linux user passwd. Third: When u login to your windoze use one of
the user names u have created in samba and linux with the same windows
passwd as the other 2 passwds.
And there u are online.
