[Samba] Problem Authenticating from Windows 9x clients - SAMBA v 2.2.4

Hi Everyone,
We have been using SAMBA for some time to access AIX/UNIX-based DFS
(Distributed File System) from Windows clients. Recently we upgraded the
SAMBA servers from version 2.0.7 to 2.2.4, and now Windows 95 clients
cannot authenticate to DFS. Occasionally Windows 9x users are able to
mount a network drive, but the DFS files remain inaccessible... has
anyone seen this problem, or does someone have any ideas as to where I can
get started troubleshooting this problem (ie. would it take the
modification of smb.conf parameters, PC settings or ????) ?

I should add that in order to allow clients to authenticate to DFS, we make
a change to the Windows registry to allow plain passwords that can be
passed to the SAMBA servers.

Thank you in advance!
