Hi

Just one final remark about password sync. in
NIS environment:

If in your NIS configuration the passwd/shadow source
files are the ones in /etc, then the solution is very simple.
You can use the normal "passwd" program and then arrange
for "pwupdate" command to be called so the NIS database
is updated.

If if your NIS database is independent from "/etc/passwd" then
a solution like the one I've pointed is required:
