If you really want to build your own samba, it may be better to use the
makerpms script:

cd package/Mandrake
sh makerpms.sh
(wait about half an hour, and you should have RPMs).

If you have any missing dependencies, the script should exit telling you
what's missing.

But, you can get prebuilt RPMs (with or without LDAP support) from
http://ranger.dnslias.com/mandrake/samba or
http://people.mandrakesoft.com/~staburet/samba

These RPMS should be on ftp.samba.org quite soon (one issue to be
resolved to make installattion easier for Mandrake 8.x).

There will be official updates to 2.2.6 for Mandrake 9.0 soon (in QA at
present). They are based on the RPMs above, but will replace those if
you install them when the updates are released.
