[Samba] does smbmount use keepalive and/or smb.conf?

Thank you for the URL. That will be a good reference
in the future, but for now, I feel that some questions
remain unanswered.

 1. Does smbmount use a keep alive time setting?
 2. Does smbmount use the smb.conf file?
