Set {
locking = Yes
oplocks = No
}
I've had problems with Access and other MS Office files when oplocks are
enabled, even on kernels that support them.

Subject: [Samba] Access 97 and Samba 2.2.6
OK, whover gets the following question right, first, gets a paypal for
$20.
I have a turbolinux server 6.5 running kernel 2.2 and samba 2.0.7.
I have a ms access 97 database running on a share that lets about 10
users access it simultaneously, write to it , read to it, just like it
was on a winnt box.
No I am setting up a test server on redhat 8, kernel 2.4, samba rpm
2.2.6-2.
Nothing but troubles. rdonly, and a lot of 0X3 and other access errors.
Want ot ssh into the box and see?
let me know, it is only a test box.
First is the working testparm printout:
[root at dell /root]# testparm
Load smb config files from /etc/smb.conf
Loaded services file OK.

I have tried everything. I have tried unitedlinux beta with 2.2.5 samba.
Still no go.
I usually just map the public share as the company P:\ drive and
reconnect at logon.
It took me two days to get the xinetd running under 2.2.6 as 2.0.7 uses
inetd.
Swat runs and I can ping boxes back and forth.
i can connect on the new box but cannot run the database.
best, kevin brown
