[Samba] compiling samba

hello.

the squid faq (http://www.squid-cache.org/Doc/FAQ/FAQ-23.html#ss23.5)
say:

"Build/Install Samba

Samba must be built with configure options:

        --with-winbind
        --with-winbind-auth-challenge (needed for ntlm)"

my question is: its necessary to use the two options or just the second
to use winbind with ntlm to provide autentication for squid????
