[Samba] SLOW connections

Thanks for the quick response.

I do have a DNS server that resolves the hostname of the server
correctly. (For example pinging the samba server by name works correctly
and quickly.)

I should point out that if I have two network connections to the linux
box that are restored on login BOTH connection attempts are slow.
Furthermore later attempts to map/browse other shares on this machine
also experience the same kind of delay. This problem isn't just the
first one (otherwise I wouldn't have posted, knowing there are name
resolution delays).

I checked log.<client machine> to see if there were any clues there, and
here's what I found:

...
[2002/11/01 16:10:23, 0] passdb/pampass.c:smb_pam_passcheck(827)
  smb_pam_passcheck: PAM: smb_pam_auth failed - Rejecting User val !

This is what resulted from mapping a drive as user val to her home
share. It successfully connected but what the heck is it doing?
Needless to say, the log is filled with similar...

Any help?
