I have an AIX 4.3 machine with Samba 2.2.1a installed. I can use smbpasswd
as root with no problem.

However, when I try smbpasswd as a non-root user I get this error:

machine hostname rejected the tconX on the IPC$ share. Error was : ERRSRV -
ERRbadpw (Bad password - name/password pair in a Tree Connect or Session
Setup are invalid.).
Failed to change password for username

Can anyone help me with this? Please reply directly to my email address.

Thanks in advance,
