Perhaps it was "full" (i.e. had 75 users) at the time you tried it. So you 
can have a look at:

  http://www.samba.org/

and use one of the given mirror download sites instead.

But, "samba-2.2.0.tar.gz" has been releases some time ago, so the path
you gave seems not to be existent any more. 

You should have a look at:

  ftp://ftp.samba.org/pub/samba/old-versions/samba-2.2.0.tar.gz 

if you really need such an old version of "samba".
