I grabbed Samba 2.2.4 release and compiled it to update a working 2.2.3a
configuration running with winbind. My system is Suse Linux 7.2 with Kernel
2.4.17 with ACL patches. I added the wbidmap patch by Michael Steffens
I used "./configure --with-pam --with-smbmount --with-pam_smbpass
--with-winbind --with-acl-support" to configure. This is the same I used for
2.2.3a. Compilation went fine.
My smb.conf looks like this:
workgroup = DE
server string = QI/CCE21 Testserver SAMBA %v
security = DOMAIN
encrypt passwords = Yes
password server = si21930 si21931
log level = 4
log file = /usr/local/samba/log/%m.log
max log size = 500
keepalive = 30
max open files = 500
os level = 2
local master = No
wins server = 18.104.22.168
kernel oplocks = No
winbind uid = 20000-60000
winbind gid = 10000-20000
template homedir = /home/%U
template shell = /bin/tcsh
winbind separator = +
winbind cache time = 600
winbind enum users = No
winbind enum groups = No
After starting smbd, nmbd and winbindd all looks fine, winbind grabs
information about trusted domains. wbinfo works as expected.
But as soon as I try to establish a connection it hangs. Symptoms:
- error message from Windows client after time out
- I see
[2002/05/03 13:29:43, 3] smbd/reply.c:reply_sesssetup_and_X(849)
Domain=[DE] NativeOS=[Windows 2000 2195] NativeLanMan=[Windows 2000 5.0]
[2002/05/03 13:29:43, 3] smbd/reply.c:reply_sesssetup_and_X(859)
in the clients log file, alternating with empty name.
- log.winbindd is growing very fast, about 200kbyte per second at log level
4, the logged message is "[2002/05/03 13:44:46, 3]
: request interface version"
- smbclient -L \\servername -U mrd8si -W DE results in "session setup
failed: SUCCESS - 0"
- size of smbd process in memory is growing slow but continously. I left it
alone during lunch, it grew to 380MByte in about 30 minutes.
Sorry for this long mail. Anybody have a glue?
Mit freundlichen Grüßen / Kind regards / Saludos cordiales
