For quite some time I have seen many connection attempts in log files that
list the share name minus on letter, example:
[2002/03/13 10:56:45, 0] smbd/service.c:make_connection(248)
intrepid (172.16.130.88) couldn't find service util
This was a connection attempt from my computer to the Samba server, through
Windows Explorer, and I did not type the path in manually, rather I double
clicked on the share in the list of shares on the server.
For each time it does it, it repeats in the log many times, for example, the
connection attempt above will have a time of 10:56:45, another at 10:56:52,
two at 10:56:53, etc.
Is this something Windows is doing, or is it samba? Any ideas?
It is not a big problem, it just makes really messy log files!
