[Samba] HELP! groups not seen and users not recognzied as valid

I need some help:

I downloaded the latest cvs today (3/7/02) and buildt it on solaris 2.8.  

getent passwd shows my user davidsha
getent group stops showing groups with names that start with the letter D or
C. It does not show group called Domain Users.

In my workstation log is says it does not know the user davidsha:

 smb_bcc=0
[2002/03/07 10:39:13, 5] auth/auth.c:check_ntlm_password(219)
  check_password: ntdomain authentication for user [davidsha] FAILED with
error NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER
[2002/03/07 10:39:13, 2] auth/auth.c:check_ntlm_password(265)
  check_password:  Authenticaion for user [davidsha] -> [davidsha] FAILED
with error NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER

but getent passwd does show the user line:

davidsha:x:10304:1000:David Edward
Shapiro:/export/home/INS/davidsha:/bin/false

Please please help!
