[Samba] codepage, character set, W2K and smbclient

Hi,

I've noticed that all the W2K clients/servers in our domain have
codepage 437, the default for the United States (Latin US). I think we
should be using codepage 850 Multilingual (Latin I) on these machines as
we are in Europe and also smbclient has that as its default setting.

I've seen character translation problems whilst browsing shares through
smbclient; these also cause problems for amanda (which uses smbclient)
when doing the backups.

The settings I now have in smb.conf are:

        character set = ISO8859-15
        client code page = 850

which seems to work for most situations that amanda needs but the
filenames are still translated to something other than their original
names.

Should I change the W2K boxen to codepage 850 (and how is that done)?
Will that fix the character translation or is there something else I
need to adjust? (I've tried client code page = 437 which doesn't work in
our setup for some reason).

TIA

Tom
