We have a 'proper' solution to that on in HEAD - if you are brave...
(Tridge wrote his own FILE * implementation).

I would try rejoining the domain.  I would not be supprised if some of
the structures stored in the tdb are dependent on word size (this one is
currently a C struct memcpy()ed into the tdb.).
