You don't, at least not 2.2.x

Not it is not a showstopper. Did you get my previous reply about LDAP 
and pam_smb?

We use samba essentially for single-sign-on (althought that is a bad 
term, Kerberos will be single-sign-on), by being DC for our windows 
domain, and authenticating pam-capable linux services (including login, 
kde, xscreensaver, sshd, mail server etc) using pam_smb and doing proxy 
authentication with smb_auth (avialable in recent releases of squid, or 
seperately if you search on freshmeat). And we're not even using samba 
with LDAP (yet).
