[Samba] Connection reset by peer - problems saving large files with WindowsME

Hi,

   I am using Samba 2.2.3a (on RedHat 7.3)

it works OK with a Win NT and Win95 client

but the WindowsME client has trouble saving large files

well not large files really - as it can't even save a 48k file

it *can* save a simple text file of only a few kb (also browsing and 
opening files from the server works fine)

the error message given is
[2002/06/19 14:47:39, 0] lib/util_sock.c:read_data(436)
   read_data: read failure for 29636. Error = Connection reset by peer

I've had a good look through all the docs I can find , Googled away and 
I can't find anything related to this (well nothing that got answered)
