[Samba] dmask and fmask both 777, but subdirs STILL do not allow changes

i did dmask and fmask as 777, and the initial directory lets users do 
whatever they want, but the subdirs do not allow editing, deleting, or 
creating of new files!!!
if you try to create a new one, it says no such file or directory on save.
what to do?
