[Samba] Compiling Samba 2.2.5 on Solaris 8

Hello,

I compiled Samba 2.2.5 on Solaris 8 using the GNU compiler 3.1
configured as it is.(using /usr/ccs/bin/ld and /usr/ccs/bin/as )
download
from www.sunfreeware.com

At start up swat runs but we cannot connect .

running smbstatus tells
Root>smbstatus

Samba version 2.2.5
Service      uid      gid      pid     machine
----------------------------------------------

Failed to open byte range locking database
ERROR: Failed to initialise locking database
Can't initialise locking module - exiting
Root>

Any advice to this ? many people talk about that on the
web , but without solution .
