[Samba] samba v2.2.2 small files transfer - slow read speed

Hello all,
I have samba v2.2.2 on solaris 5.8 , 
and the large file testing got much faster results
then NFS.
But i need the samba for ClearCase - I have many small
files to transfer,
and in that case NFS works much much better.

Do you know how can i speed up samba for many small
files transfer (14,000 in a group and more)?
mostly i nead it for reading from the samba server.
I already tried all the speed.txt and speed2.txt
papers out there, but without performance increase.

my smb conf looks like this:
