Hello everybody,

       I am using Mandrake 8.2 server(Samba 2.0.7) and Win95
clients. I am facing the following problem.

1. In /var/log/samba folder a log file log.smb.old is getting
created frequently. It will not be there always. Suddenly it is
created and its size will be almost 950 MB. After this we face
problem with accessing bigger files(4-5 MB).Telnet connection also
becomes slow. The file contents are like this.

[2002/07/01 13:42:15, 0] lib/util_sock.c:write_data(508)
write_data: write failure. Error = Broken pipe
[2002/07/01 13:42:15, 0] lib/util_sock.c:write_data(508)
write_data: write failure. Error = Broken pipe
[2002/07/01 13:42:15, 0] lib/util_sock.c:write_data(508)
write_data: write failure. Error = Broken pipe
[2002/07/01 13:42:15, 0] lib/util_sock.c:write_data(508)
write_data: write failure. Error = Broken pipe

2. Even after this file is deleted, the free space information
does not show the actual thing. Only after restarting the server,
everthing will be OK. Sometimes it is created after only few
hours.

I searched the faq section but didnt get the solution. Hope
somebody can help me in this regard.

Thanking you

Regards
Raghunandan
