Still no good. That's the weird thing, it allows windows clients to use
the share with user level security (so the account does exist on
Samba)???

mount -t smbfs -o username=abc,password=xyz //pc-1001/d /mnt/backup

This command works very well :-)
It looks like that the user who wants to connect to the share has no
access to the samba server.
