[Samba]DOS app won't run off a Samba drive!

Okay, let me do another try.

By looking at your log files, I see that the program accesses several
files with extensions like ".DBM" or ".DBZ".  Are they database files? 
If so, can you try "veto oplock" on these files?  I've learned through
my past painful experience that databases have their own locking
mechanisms that somehow don't mix well with oplocks.  So what you could
do is put:

veto oplock files = /*.DBM/*.DBZ/

to not grant oplocks on these file types.  You can also add more
extensions to the above line that you think are also problematic.

This is worth a try.
