Thanks for the response Jerry.

I had pretty much come to the same conclusion (needing to run a separate
server for each name) but I thought it was going to be because of
secrets.tdb instead of MACHINE.SID.  Since they are both in the private
directory, I guess it doesn't matter which one is causing my problem. 
As far as I can tell from looking through the source (and from your
comment above) I'll need to have a separate binary for each name with
the private path compiled in.  I can live with that, but it would be
nice if private could be a run-time config option.
