socket options and max xmit

hi ...
i'm trying to improve my samba performance ...
i'm using linux-2.4.17 with samba-2.2.2 in a dual pentium III procs with 2 Gb of
memory that serve as a windows PDC and file server for around 100 windows NT 4.0
clients.

after reading the smb.conf man page i find two parameters that interest me,
socket options and max xmit. has anyone try this parameters and give me some
tips for the right value ...
