Unix Password File and smbpasswd file synchronisation?

There are two issues:
     1) When an Windows user changes their passwd, it needs to update both.
     2) When a Unix user changes their passwd, ditto.
I suggest you look at using "--with-ldapsam" in samba and then use a PAM
module to handle the Unix side. See:
     http://sourceforge.net/projects/pam-ldap-ntlm/
Once this is in place, the /bin/passwd program can change both the local
(or NIS) passwd data and the LDAP lmpassword and ntpassword attributes.
With the "passwd program" and "unix password sync" set accordingly,
everything should stay in sync.

You will need Samba 2.2.3 (almost -- get from CVS) for the LDAP support.
