Slow down

The connection to a file server (running samba) from a Windows NT workstation on a LAN (different subnet from the file server), it takes a very long time to save document or attach it to an email.  

I do not have the problem with other users which are on the same subnet as the file server.

No of  users using the file server =4.  

Does anyone have a solution to this issue?
