LDAP and encryption

Pop quiz:

If I configure using the "--with-ldapsam" option, and have "encrypt 
passwords = Yes" in smb.conf, does Samba still maintain a separate set 
of passwords in smbpasswd, or does it authenticate from the LDAP server?
