Hey guys,
I have been compiling and running samba for a while but never ran into
this problem, This is samba-2.2.2, which was compiled from source on Debain
Linux (i386). Pretty late kenerl - 2.4.something. The funny thing is I
compiled samba on this box before. I did have a problem with some C++ compilers and
libraries that may be my problem but Im not sure. The configure and make
process runs fine without braking.

Below is the end of my smbd.log file. Logging level is set to 3.
The last line states the problem. The pid file that smbd complains
about is created successfully but doesn't contain any data.

Any ideas ?

Thanks for any help.
