Hi all, I've found a few references on a similar problem back in May 2001, but
no definitive answer; so I'm posting this, hoping it may help someone with
better insights into the question to solve the problem.
I'm using samba-2.2.0-20010417 (from the redhat srpm on samba download site);
the Dave client was originally a 2.5.2, but I've recently upgraded to a 3.1
with no better luck. The problem is simple: whenever the Dave client starts, it
crashes my nmbd daemon. Apparently, Dave is sending some unexpected/uncorrect
packets (with a wrong length parameter, from what I get from the debug logs).
After a few attempts, I've found out that no crash happens if Samba is not the
local master browser... I can live with it, but sincerely it's quite annoying.
Today I tried a shot in the dark: I've raised the OS level from 65 to 128...
and -incredibly- it seems to work.
Well, fair enough... but I'd love to get a grip on what's really going on
behind all this... anybody has an answer?
Thanks to all in advance,
Ant9000
