smbmount and saving files

when i try to save files to a smbmount'd dir the app just crashes out without 
any error

if i try and save from pico it says dir not found

permissions look good

the kde2 file dialog just drops out at the mention of the mount point

i can mount other drives on other comps fine

windows -> linux seems to work fine too
but this is linux -> linux

box with smbd is suse 7.2
smbd is 2.2.0a

box im trying to access from is suse 7.3
smbmount version 2.2.1a
