Help with Win2000

Hello - I am running a Win2K client connected to a Samba server.  Each time
I try to open a Windows share on the Samba server, I can open directories
that contain sub-directories but not directories that contain actual files.
The cursor locks up each time I try to open a directory with a file and
after a several second time out, it errors out.  This phenomenon does NOT
occur with the XP client.  Anyone seen this before?..thanks
