How are you verifying? Have you tried using top and looking for smbd and
nmbd? Swat may be giving you erroneous info if that is what you are using to
verify. Hope this helps...

Subject: Samba Start
Hello all!
I am trying to start Samba 2.2.2 (default in a Red Hat 7.1).
I selected the Samba Server in RH installation and made basic changes in
smb.conf: workgroup and a disk share.
When I try to start smb, it give me [OK] in smbd and nmbd.
But, if I verify the status, the answer is that smbd and nmbd is off.
I had the same problem using RH 7.0 (Samba 2.0.2).
I used for months Samba in Solaris without this problems. The smb.conf is
basicly the same (is the same network).
Anyone knows that is happened?
Thanks in advance!
