[Samba] newbie ?

Is a.txt a plaint text file? You may get the "stair case effect". Try 
unix2dos a.txt bevor your commands. Try a file in the native language 
of the printer (probably print into a file from w9x and try that 
file). Once you have this running you may look into an automated 
printfilter an integrate everything into lpd.

What the samba system is doing will be seen in log.smbd, but you 
won't get any messages about the NT-machines there. log.smbd is 
mainly for debugging so you will have to phrase it got get the 
information you want. Or look at the VBS (???) moduls of samba that 
can be writen for monitoring.
