Sounds logical, however I'm not really a C programmer.  Could you be able to
tell me what I'd need to put where, or if I show this information to one of
our programming guys, would he know what to do with it?

I think there is probably a -lsocket missing somewhere.  You can add it
to the Makefile for the nsswitch/libnss_winbind.so target, but this will
need to be fixed properly in configure.in at some stage.
