Hello david,
are you using unencrypted passwords on your Samba server?
if so you probably need to do a registry hack on your laptop
to enable plaintext passwords:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\VNETSUP]
"EnablePlainTextPassword"=dword:00000001

OK so someone has probably seen this before (I hope)
I have two computers connected to a samba server, one running Windows98
(desktop) the other Windows 98 second edition (laptop). The desktop can
access the server, but the laptop cannot using the same username/password.
Help!
