No,
just become root, change the password of a user mannually with your 
passwd programm and look at the prompts and responses the programm 
gives. Read in man smb.conf about the passwd chat parameter. If your 
system uses pam, RH 7.1 does, you may also use "pam passwd change" in 
smb.conf, but may be samba has to be compailed to use pam for this to 
work, but the RH7.1 rpm should.
