Well,

mmmmm i thought.

So i set-up a quick LM9.

did a tar of about 4Gig ( a 9G i borrowed :o) but he wants it back :o( )and
tried to copy it to the NT machine using

cp Cad.tar //xxxx/xxx Cad.tar

Stopped at 2G

did a copy to a win98 machine

cp Cad.tar //xxxxx/xxx Cad.tar

Stopped at 2G

But the LM9 machine let me create a 4G tar file.

Both client machines were mounted with smbmount.

So it must be........

I'm gonna try something else.

I'm going to tar from my problematic machine ( dimishing disk space ) to
this LM9 i just set up.

It doesn't matter if it runs out of space, its just to play with.

So its off, and i'm off home.

Will let you know tomorrow.

:o)
