[Samba] Printing patch

Hi samba fellows,

I'm trying to patch my fresh source tree of samba-2.2.5 with (gnu)patch
following version

$ > patch --version

While I'm in the base samba tree (this means where all the source doc ... and
the like subdirs are) the patch

patch -p 1 < ../ftp-files/patches/samba-2.2.5/samba-2.2.5-printing.patch

went fine.

But the others will not work for me. Do I need some other patch program or did I
miss one option to patch ?

The error message is

$  > patch -p 1 < ../ftp-files/patches/samba-2.2.5/Makefile.in.patch 
missing header for unified diff at line 7 of patch
can't find file to patch at input line 7
Perhaps you used the wrong -p or --strip option?
